The Matt Hawkins' series revolves around a recurring theme--aninexplicable historical artifact whose discovery results in unforeseenand explosive present-day consequences. In contrast to other books ofthis genre which often feature outlandish cabals and extremely unlikelyhistorical departures, Richardson's books spin plausible tales, both inthe historic past and with respect to present-day political andfinancial maneuvering. Readers are reintroduced to famous historicalfigures like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Meriwether Lewis andTeddy Roosevelt--albeit through the lens of fiction. It is preciselythis infusion of history (both faux and real) into the story lines thatmakes these tales unique. The end result is a series of smart thrillersthat toggle seamlessly between past and present to keep the actionmoving and the reader engaged--and maybe even wondering 'did that really happen?' Richardson's voice is a welcome new addition to thehistorically-based thriller mystery genre...in the tradition of greatstorytellers like Dan Brown, Steve Berry and Ken Follett.

Abolition of Evil They are the richest family in America that nobody has ever heard of,with a net worth of over $100 billion. Meanwhile, Matt Hawkins discovers lost field notes written by Meriwether Lewis during the historic Lewis and Clark Expedition. In them, Lewis claims a seemingly impossible discovery. Hawkins follows a trail of clues--from the Spanish conquistadors to a legendary tribe ofinvincible black Indians to the hallowed halls of Thomas Jefferson'sMonticello. Abolition of Evil A mystery thriller Matt Hawkins Series Book 2 edition by Ted Richardson Literature Fiction eBooks

I came across the book by chance from a random email from the author. Well I consumed this book in a single day. The main character, Matt, is a simple yet inquisitive antiques dealer. He is thrown into a historical, government and coverup thriller. The book moves fast and takes just enough small pauses to explain everything.

The author waves present day issues into fictional twists on known historical events. Some are fictional fill ins where we are unclear of true history or historians debunk it. I appreciated learning a ton of things outside of a great story. Even reading the appendix recapped things he took that exist in history that he used in the story.

The main character is well defined for a first novel without overburdening us with too much backstory. The side characters are plenty. From the corrupt corporate executives to the Native Americans and a ton of past military make up a large amount of people the author weave into the story. Everyone seems to have a motive or hidden history and you have plenty of surprises as it goes along to keep it moving and growing the need to solve the mystery that drives the entire book..

I know that a lot of family fortunes today were built on tons of things that took place both honorable and dishonorable in history. The author uses this to his advantage when weaving it all together.

I tried hard not to give anything away with the story. I had never heard of the author but I am looking forward to the next one

Abolition of Evil A mystery thriller Matt Hawkins Series Book 2 edition by Ted Richardson Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Interesting book and even though it is fiction Richardson makes it work. However. The Tom Hawkins he uses is boring. and at times makes it move slowly/ Otherwise, easy reading
I love the way the author uses a plausible possibility, turns it, mixed with facts, into an absorbing adventure story. This one seems all too real as it reflects much of our current political situation.
It was hard to put this book down once I started reading it. I enjoy reading a book when I you can't guess the ending, and the ending was full of unexpected and exciting twists and turns. I recommend it to anyone who likes a good mystery and suspenseful book.
First book was good. This book is well written, but the author lets his progressive income inequality politics overshadow the novel. His accusation that Thomas Jefferson would have encouraged and ordered the slaughter of a tribe of free blacks in Montana is a little too much.

The bad guys are obviously the Koch brothers and he has them killing off Supreme Court Justices and up and coming Democrat leaders.

The author needs to leave his progressive politics to the cocktail circuit and stick to the historical/archeological fiction he does well.
If you like good historical fiction, this is the book for you. Only drawback, it read like the author's first book. It felt like he crammed too much information into the book.
Author Ted Richardson has followed his debut novel with an even better ABOLITION OF EVIL. Although the books definitely stands alone, I enjoyed it more I think because I liked Richardson's debut novel so much. Instead of Relotuionary war and a secret surrender docuemnt, historian Matt Hawkins has come across a previously unknown diary of Meriwether Lewis during a solo "side trip" north. The plot moves very fast, with many twists and turns. Richardson does an amazing job mixing far history 1803, with not-so-distant history 1963, and present day Savannah, Oklahoma City, and Montana. The author have continued to develop the interesting historian Matt Hawkins, but has also added some equally intriguing new characters in this second installment. Incredible murder mystery involving corrupt Indian Reservation bureaucrats, and corrupt billionaire fat-cats. The final confrontation between the good guys and the bad guys at the end of this book is truly unique is being suspenseful, riveting, and breathtaking. Indeed, it kept me up when I should have gone to bed. I will forward this to my daughter and immediately look for the third book in the Matt Hawkins Series.
Ted Richardson has written a great book that is certainly worth your time and provides a page turning story that will keep you moving along.

Locating the topic of the book between the famous Lewis and Clark adventures and the contemporary political landscape, Richardson weaves a fascinating story. The lead character, Matt Hawkins, is articulated well by the author and the remaining cast of characters are portrayed well. As other reviewers have noted, the book wrestles with a legendary account of so-called black Indians who crossed paths with Merriwether Lewis during the exploration of the West during the early days of the United States. Laid alongside this theme, Richardson engages a billionaire family in a generations long quest for power, money, and influence.

The twists and turns are well played and the reader is not left in the dark. As Richardson develops his plot, characters, and settings, you get the sense that he is an articulate writer who can shepherd his work along from start to finish without missing a beat. The writing is smooth, dialogue chippy, and characters all line up. As you finish the book the final turns and twists in this rush torrent of adventure throw in delightful moments and help bring together a great story.

I can't help but recommend the text fully and think it will be enjoyed by almost any reader. Particularly in mind are those readers who enjoy historical fiction and present day techno-adventures with a twist is intrigue and mystery. Wonderful job Ted.
